What’s Inside My Hair Extension Tool Kit: Must-Have Tools for Extensions
I see you googling “what tools do I need in my extension kit?!” Girl, I got you! Let’s dive into my must-have tools for hair extensions. Let’s go!
1. Essential Tools for Extension Application & Removal
- Brush & Comb: Detangle and smooth both before and after installation. No knots, no fuss!
- Pliers: Safely remove beads while keeping your clients’ natural hair healthy and damage-free.
- Scissors: Not shears! I’m talking about small scissors to help remove string.
- Clips: Your bestie for keeping sections of hair out of the way while you work.
- Cape & Towel: This one explains itself 😉
2. Must Have Tools for Extensions Installation
- Prongs & Clips: Label these to keep everything organized!
- Glue Pliers, Closing Pliers & Opening Pliers: I keep 3 different sets of pliers in my kit, so I am well prepared. One for dabbing glue on, one for opening beads and another for closing beads.
- Gutermann String: Need a strong, affordable string? This one’s my fave for sewing extensions!
- Glue & Beads: Not only do I keep beads in my kit, but I also keep threaders in there pre-loaded with beads. Superglue will be your friend to seal off any knots when you’re done with your stitching.
- Sharpies: I used natural-colored Sharpies to tint silicone-lined wefts, as silicone typically does not absorb hair dye. The Sharpies effectively help to tint the wefts while reducing the shine from the silicone, resulting in a more matte finish.
3. Your Beauty Biz Bestie’s Organization Tips
Girl, staying organized isn’t just practical—it saves you time! Here’s how:

- Preload Your Beads: Do it ahead of time for a faster, stress-free application.
- Stockpile Essentials: Keep a backstock to make sure you never run out of the must-haves.
